The differences is that a teacher who plans to teach elementary aged students will need to select one concentration to specialize in, but they will learn variety of information in all subjects. Teachers who are teaching kids in high school specialize in one subject.

How Long Does It Take to become a Teacher?

Becoming a teacher is going to take you about 4 years. And once you earn the required coursework you then need to take a state exam that provides the certifications to you. At this point you can begin working if you would like, however, you should expect another year to year and a half of work to be needed to make it to the top.

Oftentimes people say that the time spent in school is just not worth the pay that comes along with being a teacher. Some teachers even make more than this! Soothe pay isn’t as bad as what some would say. Teachers certainly have jobs that are deserving of far more money, but do not let this scare you from earning the degree.

How would you like a job that lets you have off every single summer and still pay you for it? As a teacher you work a nine month schedule but are paid for a 12 month schedule. There are a few things that need to be done during the summer for the teacher position, otherwise it is free and yours to enjoy as you would like to do.

There are awesome benefits that come along with working as a teacher, too. You can expect holidays off, paid vacations and paid time off, retirement plans, education assistance, insurance and more. And, the work environment isn’t that bad either.

The biggest perk of all is the fact that you are changing so many people’s lives. Students depend on their teachers to help them learn and fill their minds with knowledge to shape the world tomorrow. There isn’t a feeling in the world like knowing that you have done this.
